I first met Steve 9 years ago when I was facilitating a CPD module that he attended, where it was instantly obvious that Steve was there to soak up every piece of information to support his ongoing training and development as a health and fitness professional. Ever since, Steve and I have regularly stayed in touch and worked together as industry colleagues. Over the years I’ve continued to be impressed by Steve’s energy and desire for growth. After recovering from a major back operation in April 2019 and realising that I could no longer do the same exercises as before (running and aerobics), I wanted to get stronger in a way that would help my back (and certainly not cause pain) which would also help to counteract the ageing process post-menopause. I decided to approach Steve as I had previously seen him in action at the gym and always thought that he interacted well with his clients in a positive and encouraging way.

Steve got me on a strength training programme which I’ve been doing online at home for several months. It has made a real difference to my overall strength, back pain and body-confidence.

Because of my back and certain restrictions I face, I do have to be careful with some exercises. Steve has always listened and given me modifications (or different exercises) that strengthen my back without causing any issues but that also work the whole body. I have always found Steve to be very supportive and helpful - his feedback is always positive and collaborative (I’m very comfortable in saying when I’m bored with an exercise or just don’t like it!) but also very encouraging in directing me as to when to move to higher resistances or harder exercises to push myself that little bit more. He has been great in helping me return to exercise post-COVID, making sure I take things steadily rather than rushing straight back into things (as I would have done on my own).

I like the online training as I can fit it around my schedule as and when I like. It works well for me as I am fairly disciplined and will do the workouts, but also because I can see and feel positive results. One of the exercises Steve has set me in my daily stretch routine has made a huge positive difference with my back, so I will definitely continue. All in all, I have had a great experience working with Steve and certainly feel a lot stronger compared to how I felt 6 months ago.

It is important to make the distinction that Steve provides online personal training; it is so much more than just a training app. Steve uploads bespoke routines tailored for me and continually monitor’s my progress, feeds back and freshen things up and makes changes when required.

The app itself is very good. You follow and watch demonstrations of Steve performing the bespoke exercise routine he has designed for you. A great feature is the ability to record oneself which Steve will review.

Whether its private sessions or online training I highly recommend Steve.

I have been training with Steve for over 4 years and during this time he has exceeded my expectations in every respect. His training has improved my core strengths and overall fitness.

Steve's online programs are tailored and designed for my fitness level. The main benefit of online training is that I can repeat and run the sessions whenever it suits me during the week. Steve provides regular feedback, video and messages all addressing my progress. I felt always supported and encouraged to keep up with my training. I found his reminders and pre-recorded messages, when he went on leave, highly beneficial and motivational.

I first contacted Steve last autumn, as I was keen to try personal training for the first time.

Steve helpfully explained the different types of training he was offering, in-person and online. I was initially only up for starting in-person training. I was honestly adamant that anything online was really not for me!  So I started with regular in-person training sessions.

Although this review is largely about my experience of Steve’s online training, I just want to briefly say how much I have generally benefitted from and enjoyed Steve’s style of training, whether live or online.  He initially thoroughly assessed where I was at physically, and in terms of what exercises to give me, and then helped me work on these and build up from there. Steve was and is so approachable, friendly and knowledgeable about how the body works…so I could actually start to think about and connect with how each exercise helps me, and which muscles each exercise is working. 

Anyway, then lockdown happened again, so we had to pause in-person training. This initially felt like a real shame, as I had really been enjoying progressing my exercises and feeling the changes physically. 

Steve then suggested I just try the online training using his App.  As I said earlier, I have simply never, ever felt able to get to grips with anything online! I really do struggle with technology and consequently have a huge tendency to avoid using it at all costs, except if absolutely necessary!  Anyway, because I really didn’t want to ‘lose’ the progress I had made, I decided to give it a go. I really didn’t expect myself to even understand how to begin! But thought if I didn’t at least try, I would never know.  

Well I couldn’t have been more wrong! Steve’s App is so user friendly, even for technophobes like me! Steve designed 2 different resistance band workouts for me, and also a stretching routine.

These have proved just great – there is a video of Steve demonstrating every exercise, and also a very detailed worded description of each exercise – so this feels very much like what we were already doing when training in person. Not only is Steve’s attention to detail excellent, but there is a messaging facility on the App, where I can ask Steve about anything I need to know or understand better about the exercises and workouts. Steve always comes back to me really quickly if I have any questions about any aspect of my training. There is also a facility for recording the details about my workout, so after every exercise I enter in how many reps I have done, how much resistance I have used etc. This gets sent to Steve, who then reviews my workouts and gives me feedback. Crucially for me, and even aside from the technology aspect , this feedback is so helpful and encouraging – just as if I were doing ‘live’ training, Steve sees what I do during my workouts ,  reviews and feeds back, which is just so encouraging and helpful. 

Another aspect of the online training I have come to really value, is that I can fit in in around my work and domestic life and do my workouts whenever it suits me and life!  

All in all, I couldn’t recommend Steve’s training more – and there is absolutely no need whatsoever to feel in any way reluctant to do his online training. It really does feel live and connected, and is simple to use – if I can do it, anyone can! – And I haven’t looked back since making the decision to give it a go.

I came to Steve a short while back initially for a bit of advice about how I personally can improve my everyday quality of life, primarily via the means of stretching.  From my initial query, Steve quickly set up an initial online chat just to personally hear things from my point of view, what I was experiencing and what I'd hope to achieve. This was all done without hesitation and with current circumstances during the coronavirus pandemic, all kept in line with guidelines but still maintained a high level of professionalism.  

After an online assessment Steve was able to pinpoint my "problem areas" to which he came up with a personalised stretching and workout plan. But this is not all he did, he gave me a full breakdown of detail as to why he has used certain routines, giving an actual insight as to what benefits they will have on me.  

We used video chat to have our initial discussion and this was followed up with regular use of Steve's personal App. The app itself is great, it’s user friendly and easy to follow. The workouts themselves have some very detailed information and step by steps alongside videos/photos to ensure that you are carrying them out correctly and safely. 

The best part about the app though is the communication you get to have with Steve, there is a chat section to ask any questions to which Steve is very responsive with. You can upload photos and videos for Steve to personally assess and give any feedback or recommendations based of his observations. The App feels personal to you; this was great as I work shifts so my workouts needed to be a bit more flexible as to what I can and can't do so Steve was able to set me up with "mini plans" that I could do when I was a bit stretched for time but still provided me with what I needed. 

The overall service is great and I highly recommend the usage of the app to those who want a personalised experience but may not necessarily have the time to visit a personal trainer direct.

I have been working with Steve (Shreeve) as my PT now for some five years. Eight months ago, I moved back to Australia permanently and was not looking forward at all either to losing Steve as a PT or trying to find someone else to fill his considerable shoes here in South Australia. Happily, the chance to retain our training relationship using his Online Training Services came along and I decided to give it a go, despite my aging relatively low tech/technophobe status.

I wondered how it would work across such a great distance. I’m happy to report- after using it for some months- that it’s been a tremendous success and that I would unhesitatingly recommend it to anyone in similar circumstances.  

I have found the app to be very user friendly, especially recording my workouts and making any notes I want in relation to individual exercises. The way the app works makes it much easier to check out my progression more easily than filling in paper sheets by hand as I used to do. The videos of Steve demonstrating each exercise are really useful (I consult them repeatedly). The other really good feature of Online Training is the messaging, I can almost hear his voice while reading his messages.

Also, he knows more about what I am doing (or not doing) training wise than when I used to visit him fortnightly in person- no place to hide, even 10,000 miles away! This helps to keep me accountable and continually working towards my goals.

The one thing I missed was actually doing the workouts with him and getting (corrective where necessary) feedback on the spot face to face in real time. However, the ease with which I can- without too much trouble- video myself doing an exercise, upload it onto the app and send it to Steve for feedback on my technique, goes a long way to making up for this, along with the occasional supplementary Facetime call.  Overall, what using the app has achieved for me- somewhat to my surprise- is the ability to maintain an effective working relationship over time with a trainer whose input I value greatly, despite literally now being a world away instead of just down the road.

I first started having personal training with Steve, as I wanted to both lose weight and get fitter, goals which he has helped me meet. Steve also advised me on changes I could make on the nutritional side of things. I’m now a much different person, mentally and physically, to what I was at the start. I felt able to compete in a fencing open for the first time in over 7 years, in which I fenced well, in no small part to my improved fitness. When I fence at my local club each week, I no longer have to worry about whether I can physically last a long bout.
